CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, USA — 4 February 2016 — LinkTek announces the release of an update of its link fixing software LinkFixer Advanced. With this update, users can now use LinkFixer Advanced on their AutoCAD 2015 and 2016 files, and on their links in their InDesign files for Creative Cloud.
InDesign Creative Cloud specifically uses links for all of its documents. All fonts, pictures, and other objects are all laid out in InDesign by linking them to their source files. Per Ed Clark, COO of LinkTek, “This can cause massive time lost for organizations dealing with these files when performing data migrations or file system reorganizations.”
AutoCAD 2016 uses links to external reference files (xRefs) of various file types. These links break if someone moves or renames any of the referenced files or the folders in which they reside. “During a data migration, this is exactly what happens, creating lost data, extra work, lost time and, sometimes panicked designers, architects and engineers,” Clark said.
With LinkTek’s newest release of Linkfixer Advanced, companies and organizations who use above-mentioned file types will have a solution to their broken links “whether caused by data migrations, file system restructuring or user error”, says Clark, “which can save their users hours of time in trying to find and re-link missing files.”
Other enhancements made to LinkFixer Advanced include:
- A more streamlined user interface. This takes a few steps out of the setting up of LinkFixer Advanced, saving even more time during data migrations or other IT projects.
- The LinkFixer Advanced summary reports can now show file types, making it easier to read.
According to the LinkTek website: LinkFixer Advanced automatically finds and fixes broken links in an organization’s most critical file types, so that data migrations and file system reorganizations can be completed quickly, accurately and without causing lost data or lost productivity. LinkFixer Advanced supports Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, as well as Visio, Acrobat, InDesign, MicroStation and AutoCAD, to name a few. LinkFixer Advanced eliminates problems before they happen, and aids overworked IT professionals in moving forward on their projects.
