New version of LinkFixerPlus moves and renames MicroStation V8 design files without causing broken links

1303237 - MicroStation V8 link fixerCLEARWATER, FLORIDA, USA — LinkTek Corporation, the world’s leading provider of software that automates the management and repair of links contained within a wide variety of popular file formats, announces the latest release of their patented LinkFixerPlus link maintenance and repair software. What makes this release exciting is that it allows users to move and rename MicroStation V8 files, in large batches, without causing a single broken link in the process. (Visit www.LinkTek.com).

In addition, LinkFixerPlus can also safeguard links in MicroStation V8 files. Once safeguarded, LinkFixerPlus can then be used to automatically fix previously broken links in MicroStation V8 design files that point to external files (such as reference files, images, fonts and other linked files) – for example, when files were renamed due to a project name change or when files were moved to a new folder, disk drive or server. LinkFixerPlus allows for the reporting, validation and automatic repathing and repair of links contained within batches of MicroStation design files.

“We have two scenarios here”, said Bruce Saliga, President of LinkTek. “In the ideal situation, whenever a project name needs to be modified or when a folder reorganization or data migration is needed, the appropriate personnel would use LinkFixerPlus to perform the move or rename process on all the applicable files. Using LinkFixerPlus during the moving or renaming process allows all the changes to be made without a single broken link. This saves a tremendous amount of time.

“But there is also a second capability that can really save the day: What do you do if someone makes changes to the locations or names of files without prior coordination or without using LinkFixerPlus? Well, LinkFixerPlus users can handle that too. LinkFixerPlus provides the ability to ‘inoculate’ links within files in advance such that if the files are ever moved or renamed by someone, LinkFixerPlus can easily find and automatically repair the links.”

This newest release adds to LinkFixerPlus’ previous ability to move and rename AutoCAD, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, HTML, InDesign, PageMaker, Acrobat PDF and Windows shortcut files, without causing broken links.

First introduced at the 2002 Internet World convention in New York City, LinkFixerPlus won the Best of Show award in the design category. Since that time, LinkFixerPlus has been favorably mentioned in: Cadalyst Magazine, eWeek, Redmond, Windows IT Pro, CNET radio, CNNfn, PC Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Computer World and The Wall Street Journal.
