For the millions of die-hard Game of Thrones fans out there, 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 21 August marked the end of a three-year viewing drought. Episode one of the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, aired to an audience of almost 10 million viewers (HBO’s biggest series premiere, ever) and it did not disappoint. If you’ve not yet seen it, don’t worry — this article is spoiler-free. And we’ll discuss data migration too, so you have a legit excuse for reading this at work.

Primed and Good to Go

As first episodes go, this was a great one. It certainly laid the foundation for a rollicking season filled with all the elements we’ve come to expect: jealousy, grief, power, banishment, cruelty, love, tragedy, victory, friendship, betrayal, and loyalty. And, of course, there were dragons. (We love us a good dragon, we do!)

While all of these qualities will, no doubt, be required to guide and motivate the characters through their shenanigans of this season, we were grateful to realize that a season of data migration generally produces significantly less bloodshed and deception — if you play your cards right. As the usual hooliganism and intrigue played out at King’s Landing and in the halls of the Red Keep, we were glad to be safe on the sofa at home, and not constantly dodging the Grim Reaper on the continent of Westeros.

We’ve Got Your Back

Seriously, in just this first episode alone, you never knew from which direction death and destruction would erupt but erupt they did. It was almost enough to make you constantly look over your shoulder, which we assure you won’t be necessary at your next data migration. Why? Because we’re the good guys, and we’re sworn to protect you — or, at least, your data.

If you know how often data goes missing during a data migration, then you probably also know that one of the most common causes is the file links that get broken during the migration process itself. But did you know that there’s a way to completely prevent that from occurring?

LinkFixer Advanced is like a dragon whisperer when it comes to protecting your data from getting lost due to broken links. It is best used prior to your migration to ensure safe passage for your data. It simply makes the process of protecting your linked data effortless and easy to control.

If you’ve previously completed a migration and already have missing data and complaining end-users, LinkFixer Advanced is your best disaster recovery weapon. Don’t even think about swords, pikes, lances, or our personal favorite, the morning star. None of those are going to repair your links and restore your missing data in a flash. But LinkFixer Advanced will. We’ve got you covered.

Feet Up and Pass the Popcorn

With LinkFixer Advanced in your arsenal, you can literally put up your feet and enjoy one of the smoothest data migrations of the season. Call a friendly Knight of the Realm (aka a Service Consultant) at 727-442-1822 for a free demo or visit LinkTek.com for more information. If you’re not sure what the status of your file links is, you can find out by downloading Link Reporter for free. This handy tool can deliver various reports so that you can determine which files are connected, and which links are broken.

In Game of Thrones, the roguish Littlefinger once tells Varys, “Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder.” But perhaps, if you’ve played your cards well, you won’t even need a ladder, since, with LinkFixer Advanced, you’ll certainly entirely eliminate one source of chaos from your data migration.
